Job Description
At NBI Games, we are more than consultants, we are embedded partners, behavioral scientists, game developers, and strategists who have helped shape some of the most iconic titles in the industry. Our mission is clear: to help great studios create unforgettable experiences through data-driven insights, grounded in a deep understanding of players.Â
We integrate seamlessly into partner studios, bringing clarity, cohesion, and actionable guidance across the full game lifecycle, from concept to launch to live ops. Our UX research isn’t siloed. It’s strategic, contextualized, and directly connected to product success.Â
Â
What You'll DoÂ
As a Senior Data Engineer at NBI Games, you will be a key player in the development and maintenance of our data platform. This role is critical to ensure that gameplay data, telemetry, and analytics pipelines are reliable, scalable, and robust. You’ll work cross-functionally with analysts, data scientists, and game teams to support infrastructure that powers insights for game tuning, live ops, and player behavior understanding.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines and infrastructureÂ
- Develop batch and real-time data processing systems for analytics and telemetryÂ
- Create software and tooling necessary to build automated deployment pipelinesÂ
- Support containerization and orchestration of data services using Docker and KubernetesÂ
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and define engineering solutionsÂ
- Develop and enforce data governance, quality, and security standardsÂ
- Work with external teams and contractors to deliver reliable, production-grade systemsÂ
- Drive innovation in tools and processes across the data engineering teamÂ
- Mentor junior engineers and set a high bar for coding and architecture standardsÂ
- Contribute to architectural decisions that align with long-term platform growthÂ
Â
What We’re Looking ForÂ
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or related fieldÂ
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on high-scale systems (video game studio experience strongly preferred)Â
- Deep proficiency in Python and experience with container systems (Docker, Kubernetes)Â
- Proven experience with AWS services (Lambda, S3, EMR, DynamoDB)Â
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake, and VerticaÂ
- Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworksÂ
- Ability to work in agile, fast-paced environments and lead technical projectsÂ
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsÂ
- A gamer mindset: curious, creative, and passionate about game developmentÂ
- Demonstrate professional behavior and maintain a strong work ethicÂ
- Work collaboratively across departments and with external partners when neededÂ
- Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to evolving project and team needsÂ
Bonus PointsÂ
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading project initiativesÂ
- Ability to translate business requirements into data architectureÂ
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and backlog grooming for data teamsÂ
- Comfort working across product, analytics, and engineering teamsÂ
Why NBI?Â

- Unify research, telemetry, and behavioral science to drive faster, deeper insightsÂ
- Embed directly with clients to deliver value where it matters mostÂ
- Create research systems that scale with studios, enabling long-term growth and learningÂ
- Prioritize clarity, empathy, and action, not just reportsÂ
You’ll work alongside veterans of Blizzard, Xbox, Ubisoft, EA, and more, on projects that shape the future of interactive entertainment. Our partners value not just our methods, but our mindset: one of rigor, trust, and relentless player focus.Â
