Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons that focus on practical cookery, nutritional understanding, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Manage kitchen-based classrooms safely and effectively, ensuring hygiene and safety standards are upheld.
  • Inspire creativity and independence through hands-on learning and cross-curricular projects.
  • Track and assess pupil progress, adapting lesson plans to support all learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Design & Technology faculty to enhance interdisciplinary teaching.
  • Contribute to departmental development, enrichment activities, and food-based initiatives across the school.

Job Requirements:

  • A qualified teacher status (QTS) specialisation in Food Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology.
  • Strong subject knowledge in nutrition, food preparation and health & safety regulations.
  • A passion for practical learning, with the ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
  • Applications from experienced TAs or Cover Supervisors with a food tech or practical learning background are welcome.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
