Project Native Informant is a commercial art gallery based in London. Founded in 2013, the gallery represents artists and collectives, both emerging and historical, with a foci in expanded conceptual/institutional critique, contemporary painting, and BIPOC and LGBTQIA+.

Project Native Informant is currently seeking two (2) full time permanent positions: Artists and Projects Manager

Gallery Manager

These are two (2) separate hires. To apply for either or both, scroll down.

Descriptions below:

–> Artists and Project Manager: This is a new role within the organisation and will work closely with the gallery’s Founder. The Artists and Projects Manager will be responsible for assisting, end to end, the gallery’s intimate relationships with the program’s artists, from the production of new works and exhibitions, liaising with galleries and museums on exhibitions, consignments and loans, and the overall promotion of the artists’ diverse activities. The Artists and Projects Manager will handle a complex, varied workload, whilst maintaining time-sensitivity and attention to detail. After an introductory period, the hire will possess a great degree of autonomy, and thus must be able to work independently. The ideal candidate is seeking to join a positive working environment, structured by collective decision making and collaboration, and looking for greater self-determination, with opportunities for growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assisting with the varied and unique ambitions of the program’s artists, offering support and research on fabrication, exhibitions, art fairs, special projects, and press requests.
  • Assisting with securing and coordinating the artists’ institutional and offsite exhibitions and projects.
  • Management of the artists’ archive and dossier, including the classification and reformatting of all photography and video, and the gallery’s online profiles for the artists.
  • Monitoring the documentation of program artists’ projects and ensure all records are current.
  • Scheduling studio visits and coordinating meetings with curators, clients, press.
  • Assisting with the gallery’s writing requirements, including working on press releases and art fair applications.
  • Budgeting.
  • Assisting with FOH duties, including greeting visitors, answering questions, tours, answering phone calls and general emails.
  • Providing support during gallery events, including previews, artist talks, and education-focused activities.
  • Ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-2 years of experience working with artists in production and exhibitions. Expertise in the installation, de-installation and care of artworks required. Previous experience in museums, contemporary art galleries or similar desirable.
  • Proficient in Apple applications, including Pages and Numbers, knowledge of Adobe suite desirable (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Proficient in art database applications, such as Artlogic.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Adaptable to changing demands and deadlines, confident taking the initiative, with excellent time management skills.
  • Creative problem-solving, anticipating and resolving issues quickly.
  • Approachable, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Willing to help, actively listen and communicate thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to travel.

Salary: ÂŁ30,000 – 35,000 per annum, 6 months probationary period.

Hours: Tuesday – Friday 10:00 – 18:00 Saturday 12:00 – 18:00 during exhibitions; otherwise Monday – Friday 10:00 – 18:00; occasional evenings for openings, art fairs, and special events.

–> Gallery Manager: the hire will work closely with the gallery’s Founder and will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day running of the gallery, exhibitions and art fairs. The Gallery Manager will handle a complex, varied workload, whilst maintaining time-sensitivity and attention to detail. After an introductory period, the hire will possess a great degree of autonomy, and thus must be able to work independently. The ideal candidate is seeking to join a positive working environment, structured by collective decision making and collaboration, and looking for greater self-determination, with opportunities for growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Managing the gallery’s transportation requirements, including obtaining estimates, arranging shipping and post sales services.
  • Managing all aspects of exhibition and art fairs administration, installation and de-installation, including photographic documentation and budgeting.
  • Managing the gallery’s artworks and database, inputting, monitoring and maintaining records and condition reporting.
  • Assisting in the coordination of inbound / outbound loans, ensuring all paperwork requirements are met.
  • Managing the gallery’s marketing and communication, including updating gallery website, monthly newsletters, listings and social media.
  • General upkeep: Keeping the gallery spaces tidy, and opening and closing the gallery
  • Assisting with FOH duties, including greeting visitors, answering questions, tours, answering phone calls and general emails.
  • Providing support during gallery events, including previews, artist talks, and education-focused activities.
  • Ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a similar role with a proven focus on logistics and administration. Expertise in the installation, de-installation and care of artworks required. Previous experience in museums, contemporary art galleries or similar desirable.
  • Proficient in Apple applications, including Pages and Numbers, knowledge of Adobe suite desirable (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Proficient in art database applications, such as Artlogic.
  • Knowledge of international fine art shipping standards and art handling.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Adaptable to changing demands and deadlines, confident taking the initiative, with excellent time management skills.
  • Approachable, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Willing to help, actively listen and communicate thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and with a problem-solving mindset.
