Aspire Homes Australia is currently recruiting for Therapeutic Youth Workers. This is an exciting opportunity to provide trauma-informed therapeutic care for children and young people who have experienced significant adversity. We aim to be the leading provider in the Hunter, Newcastle, Central Coast district through our skilled and experienced staff, home-like environments and the development of a specific therapeutic framework.

Essential criteria:
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment
  • Current National Criminal History Check Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate, preferred but not essential
  • A valid driver's licence
  • Roadworthy and comprehensively insured vehicle
  • A qualification in Social Work, Youth Work etc. or willing to obtain one, or considerable industry experience
You will:
  • Provide a safe and secure environment in which young people can thrive
  • Support young people as they transition into and out of our care
  • Support young people to achieve their living skills and Case Plan goals
  • Be an advocate for the young person
  • Have the necessary skills to manage complex behaviours and difficult situations according to the young person's behaviour management plan
  • Be available for shift work
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Be an effective team-player, with the ability to work autonomously
  • Undertake ongoing training as identified
In return, you will:
  • Work in a therapeutic, supportive and committed team environment
  • Be remunerated according to the SCHADS award; superannuation, penalty rates for evenings and weekends, and reimbursement for work related approved travel
  • Be provided with on-going support and supervision, training and opportunities for professional development
