The primary purpose of this position is to transport product and equipment to and from The GIANT Company Perishable Distribution Center (PDC), stores, and other designated locations in a safe and professional manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Qualified to operate a Class A CDL vehicle in a safe and competent manner while abiding by all FMCSA/DOT regulations
- Drive assigned tractor trailer to scheduled stores to deliver product from the PDC
- Responsible for the load, delivery and security of each load including seals and locks, delivery of mail and bills, obtaining necessary signatures, assisting store personnel in unloading product, securing cargo, and ensuring correct temperature of load
- Picking up assigned backhaul loads from stores and other vendors
- Fueling tractors and trailers and maintaining all equipment in good, clean condition
- Washing equipment as required
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on commercial motor vehicles
- Load the recycled items and pallets in trailer
- Must work holidays, nights, weekends, and must be available for mandatory workdays on normally scheduled off days
- Must possess and maintain a permanent Class A CDL
- Ability to understand and comply with state and local municipal traffic regulations and comply with FMCSA
- Must be able to withstand road shocks and bumps
- Must have an acceptable driving record per FMCSA Guide's point system.
- Must not have been disqualified for any reason within the past three years.
- Must not have been disqualified/unqualified as a CMV driver for a drug/alcohol offense within the last 10 years.
- Must be at least 21 years of age. Must maintain all driver qualifications required by FMCSA part 391.
- Must meet and follow all regulations set forth by FMCSA.
- Schedules include weekends, overtime, and holidays.
- Must pass vehicle road test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations in order to complete job duties in a satisfactory manner

- Physically able to obtain a CDL Medical Certificate; ability to connect/disconnect trailers to the tractors as well as manually crank the landing gear up/down
- Ability to utilize the Electronic Logging Device and various transportation systems in tractors, and handheld devices
- Ability to frequently climb onto and off equipment (tractor/trailer) utilizing proper three-point stance
- Frequently move 5th wheel locking device into position utilizing arms and shoulders
- Frequently raise trailer door to open position standing from ground level (50 lbs. above head)
- Frequently lower trailer door to closed position (50 lbs. bending over)
- Ability to frequently bend, twist, kneel, squat, reach and crawl
- Ability to sit in a tractor for 8-10 hours per shift, stand at least one hour consecutively and walk at least 20 minutes consecutively
- Finger dexterity for keyboard use, sitting and standing as job requires
- Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the team member handbook
- Must complete driver training
- Experience with computer skills, Electronic Logging Devices, and the ability to interpret driving instructions
- 2 years of Class A CDL driving Required
