Job Overview

The RWJBH Security Officer ensures a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors, and staff. With vigilance and compassionate service, you will be part of a team that represents the organization using a positive attitude in all interactions. The officer balances security protocols with understanding and respect for those in the healthcare setting. This role is central to our commitment to safety, customer service, and supportive care, embodying our mission to protect and assist people, property, and the quality of our health system.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid New Jersey Driver\’s License with eligibility for RWJBH insurance coverage. Out-of-state licenses must be transferred to New Jersey within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain de-escalation training certification within ninety (90) days of hire.

Preferred:

• At least one (1) year of customer service, security experience, or military service.
• Proficiency with keyboarding, data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish) are preferred but not required.

Essential Functions

• Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain security, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts.
• Provide professional customer service while vigilantly watching for security threats.
• Manage access control, perform data entry, and utilize Microsoft Office for incident reports and administrative tasks.
• Engage effectively with a diverse population using strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Perform weapon screening and enforce safety policies.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in crisis de-escalation using certified techniques.
• Other duties as assigned, with activities subject to change.
