Join Our Team as a Highways Operative! Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to vital infrastructure projects? Do you have a passion for working outdoors and ensuring our highways are safe and efficient? If so, we want you to join our dynamic team as a Highways Operative!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 7.5 Tonne lorry and other machinery with confidence and skill.
  • Work within highways, including traffic management, to enhance road safety.
  • Carry out minor civil engineering tasks such as excavating shallow trenches (up to 1.5m).
  • Conduct public utility service detection to ensure safe operations.
  • Lay gravity drains and associated fixtures and fittings (100mm - 225mm diameter).
  • Work with and connect to live sewers with precision.
  • Participate in out-of-hours call-out (1 week in 8) to maintain service continuity.
  • Get involved in winter service operations as a gritter driver when required.

What We're Looking For:

  • A valid 7.5 Tonne lorry driving licence.
  • Experience working in highway environments, especially in traffic management.
  • Skills in carrying out minor civil engineering works.
  • Knowledge of public utility service detection processes.
  • Ability to lay and connect gravity drains and work with live sewers.

Desirable Skills:

  • Class 2 HGV driving licence.
  • Experience in excavating deep trenches (exceeding 1.5m).
  • Licence to operate mini diggers.
  • Experience working in confined spaces.
