The Active Schools team within Live Active Leisure is supporting young people in the local area by providing opportunities to gain skills and knowledge in the world of work through a Modern Apprentice training programme. This opportunity would suit young people (16+) who are interested in developing their coaching skills, have a passion for physical activity and sport and who enjoy working with children.
Candidates will undertake a SVQ Level 2 qualification in Sports Coaching at SCQF Level 6, as well as other generic and sports/physical activity related awards and qualifications.
The postholder will be based in either primary or secondary schools or a combination of both. Primary school work will involve the delivery of gross motor skills and physical literacy programmes and a range of extra-curricular sports club opportunities across P1- P7. The secondary school work will involve supporting a school with extra-curricular sports club opportunities, assisting the PE department and working on projects with targeted groups of pupils. Training will be provided.
The post is a regulated work role with children under The Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An offer of employment by Live Active Leisure will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory.
