Technician

Overview

The RS Geosciences team is recruiting for a Technician to join the team based in Hemel Hempstead. This position is to assist the smooth running of the site investigation sector through close coordination of operations with the other team members. The role will be both office and site based. The main working location is Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, but regular travelling around the UK (mainly south east) will be necessary. Although not usually, working away from home may be required. This is a full-time post working 9:00am 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a clean working environment within the equipment stores, including ordering sampling consumables and PPE.
• Manual handling including restocking materials on shelves (bags up to 25 kg), sample storage and disposal.
• Assisting in loading and unloading site vehicles.
• Assist site works as necessary, including delivery and collection of materials/equipment/plant, shallow pitting, reinstatement, specialist in-situ testing and general engineering assistance.
• Assisting the geosciences team with equipment maintenance, repair and calibration.
• Assisting with vehicle checks.
• Carrying out additional duties as reasonably required by the Company. All necessary training and equipment will be provided by RSK.

Person specification

• Organised and motivated self-starter
• Strong attention to detail
• Good time keeping
• Full UK driving licence (manual transmission). Ideally with experience of driving box vans, but not essential.
• GCSE Grade C or higher (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Skills to be developed

• Personal management
• Basic computer literacy
