JDR Cable Systems is currently seeking a Welding Inspector to join their team. This role reports directly to the UK Quality Manager and involves ensuring the highest welding and quality control standards. As part of our commitment to excellence, you will work as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) under ISO 3834-2 standards and play a key role in monitoring and assessing the development of all welded products manufactured.
As the Welding Inspector/Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) as per ISO 3834-2
- Preparing welding procedure proposals, WPSs, and welder/operator qualification tests.
- Maintaining records for WPQs and WPSs.
- Reviewing welding consumables and analysing weld repairs.
- Coordinating non-destructive and destructive testing and liaising with clients and certifying authorities.
- Overseeing subcontractor welding procedures and welder qualifications.
- Researching and developing new welding processes and techniques.
- Conducting general quality control welding inspection activities, including:
- Inspecting welds before, during, and after production to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Performing process and internal audits and maintaining accurate records.
- Facilitating NCR, ITQ, and DCR processes, ensuring compliance with ISO standards.
We are looking for a motivated individual with strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to quality assurance. Ideally candidates should have formal welding qualifications (e.g., ONC/HNC, TechWeldI) and CSWIP 3.1 certification, along with proficiency in radiographic interpretation, LPI/DPI, and a solid understanding of welding equipment. A working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834 standards, and quality management systems is essential, as is experience in root cause analysis, NCRs, and CAPA processes.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams are also key to success in this role. Knowledge of risk assessments and workplace safety principles.
