We believe that technical training should be complemented with practical, on-the-job experience, allowing trainees to shadow experienced Surveyors and participate in classroom sessions.

To qualify as a Trainee AssocRICS Surveyor, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Possess an RICS-accredited surveying-related degree, either graduate or postgraduate, including modules in valuation and/or building surveying, with at least one year of property-related work experience.
- Hold an RICS-approved HND, HNC, NVQ Level 3 diploma, BTEC, or foundation degree, with two or more years of property-related work experience, such as estate agency or surveying/valuation disciplines.
- Have a minimum of four years' property-related work experience at negotiator level or higher, in estate agency or relevant departments like asset management, LPA, or property management, involving direct caseload management and decision-making in property matters.
