About the Role
The Depaul North West services (Oldham, Manchester, Stockport, and Rochdale) require an ad-hoc ‘handy person’ to support homeless accommodations with tasks such as (this list is not exhaustive):
- Wallpapering
- Painting
- Hanging curtain rails
- Filling and plastering holes in walls
- Assembling furniture or equipment
- General cleaning
- Clearing and removing furniture
The services will contact you when maintenance work is needed. The frequency of work depends on the service's needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing minor repairs in North West accommodations, maintaining accurate logs, and reporting repairs beyond your scope to management.
- Depending on the work, you may need to complete void checks and assist in preparing properties for re-letting.
- Arranging and granting access to properties for landlords, contractors, and suppliers as necessary.
- Ensuring project properties are painted and decorated to a high standard.
- Removing and disposing of rubbish, broken furniture, and residents' belongings following procedures.
- Cleaning internal and external communal areas and gardens, including litter picking.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in similar roles involving cleaning, repairs, property maintenance, decorating, and groundskeeping.
- Good organization and prioritization skills, able to work independently.
- An understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people and families.
- A clean driving license and access to a car or van with appropriate insurance.
- The ability to handle equipment and heavy items safely.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
- Experience with safeguarding procedures.
