This is a wonderful role for a paralegal who is interested in developing their career in Court of Protection work. This is a role in which what you do will have a direct impact on the futures of vulnerable people. Your job is to manage legal cases in which you will directly represent vulnerable people who are unable to represent themselves legally or take important life-changing decisions. As someone with a legal background who is looking for a next step, you will help to give a voice to those who are vulnerable to abuse when they are no longer able to make decisions through illness, injury or old age. This role is based in North London and you will join a specialist firm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a paralegal to develop expertise in family law, specifically Court of Protection casework. The role is rewarding and you will benefit from a mentoring culture in this firm, and full ongoing training. You will need to demonstrate that you have some experience in family law and especially Court of Protection work, and a passion for helping the vulnerable. There will be plenty of client contact, file management, and you will be supporting senior fee earners on complex matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Working on a caseload of Court of Protection work
  • Managing and maintaining client files
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documents
  • Speaking with kindness to the families of clients as well as with doctors, hospitals and government bodies
  • Handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Supporting project work and taking ownership of specific delegated tasks from associates and partners
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • 1 year experience as a paralegal
  • Experience in Court of Protection is essential
  • ILEX or LPC qualification would be an advantage
