The Role of Public Affairs Advisor

  • Monitor, research, and communicate on public policy, political and other issues impacting the sector
  • Draft engaging and informative policy briefings, consultation responses and position papers
  • Develop and deliver public affairs campaigns and stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Represent the organisation at key meetings and events
  • Maintain information resources such as trackers, databases and briefing libraries
  • Work closely with a small team and contribute to the wider policy and external affairs work

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable experience in public affairs, policy, or a related field (e.g. Parliament, Government, trade association, public affairs agency, charity sector, or campaigning)
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject
  • Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to summarise complex information concisely
  • Politically aware with an understanding of UK political systems and processes
  • Confident team player with a professional, reliable and accountable approach
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • IT literate, particularly in MS Office
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally attend events outside standard hours
