Are you an experienced SEN/ASD Teaching Assistant with a passion to make a difference to children who have ASD? TLTP are looking for an experienced SEN/ASD TA for an SEN School based in Mitcham, Surrey. The school is committed to the development and delivery of high quality relationships with families and local community organisations to ensure that the children attending the school achieve their full potential and become respected and active members of the local community.

The Position will include:

  • Working with Primary students with ASD & Learning Difficulties
  • Working with children with ASD, ADHD, bright and very capable
  • Providing personal care to students when/if needed
  • Using visual aids to communicate with students
  • One to one or small groups

This special needs teaching assistant role will be supporting secondary children with Autism and complex needs. Special needs teaching assistants will need excellent behaviour management skills, be able to build positive relationships with young people and staff, and have good knowledge/experience working with children with ASD/complex needs within a special needs environment.

Special needs experience working with secondary aged pupils. Special needs teaching assistants will be collaborating with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum, assessing children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and working with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs, liaising with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists, and working closely with parents and guardians.

Organising learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events. Special needs teaching assistants will need to assist in severely disabled pupils' personal care/medical needs, administration, including updating and maintaining records of pupils' progress, and attending statutory annual reviews or other related meetings, such as Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, regarding students with a SEN, which may involve reviewing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans. Receiving in-service training and behaviour management.
