About the Company

Farol Ltd is an extremely successful and growing multisite agricultural and groundcare business and the largest John Deere dealership in the UK. Established as a family business in 1976, Farol today is made up of over 300 Service, Parts, Sales, Transport and Business Support Team Members, whilst still remaining 100% family owned. Holding the renowned John Deere and Club Car franchises along with many other brands, we are the market leaders in agriculture, groundcare and homeowner products. Our vision is to deliver a preeminent service by being at the forefront of technology, whilst developing a rich and rewarding environment for our employees.

There’s never been a better time to build a career with Farol. As the agricultural and turf machinery industries become more advanced, the demand for skilled engineers and technicians continues to grow. From satellite navigation and fuel-efficient engines to Formula 1-inspired transmissions and cutting-edge diagnostic systems, today’s machinery requires forward-thinking individuals with a passion for technology and problem-solving. Whether you’re interested in working with tractors, turf equipment, or precision systems, Farol offers a clear pathway into the industry through our hands-on, accredited apprenticeship and training schemes.

About the role

At Farol, we train both Agricultural Technicians and Turf Technicians, depending on your area of interest. As an Agricultural Technician, you’ll work primarily with John Deere farm machinery, including tractors, sprayers, and harvesters. Gaining hands-on experience with diagnostics, servicing, and complex repairs using advanced John Deere equipment. As a Turf Technician, you’ll develop similar engineering skills but with a focus on machinery used by golf courses, sports venues, landscapers, and local authorities. From greens mowers to utility vehicles, you’ll work with highly specialised equipment in a wide variety of settings.

The John Deere Diploma is a two-year programme. Most of your time will be spent working at our dealership, developing skills alongside experienced technicians. You’ll also attend college in two-week blocks, receiving structured tuition in the classroom and workshop. The course starts every January, but new recruits ideally join the business in October to begin hands-on learning and become familiar with the team and systems before college begins.

About You

The John Deere Diploma is a fast-paced course, and therefore we’re looking for motivated candidates with a strong technical foundation. Ideally, applicants will have already completed a Level 2 qualification in Land-based Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Automotive, or a related subject. Alternatively, A-Levels in Maths, Engineering, or Science are also desirable.

You’ll also need to have:

  • GCSE Maths, English Language and Science at Grade 4 (C) or above
  • A genuine interest in Agricultural or Turf machinery and how it works

The Benefits

We offer a starting salary of £20,800 which increases throughout the training scheme to £30,000 upon the successful completion of the course. You will also receive 20 days Holiday per year which then increases by 1 day for each year of service (once the course has been completed) up to a maximum of 25 days per year. You will also receive a generous tool allowance each year, company laptop and phone, employee discount, pension scheme. You will be given a company vehicle once you reach the appropriate skill level (likely to be mid way through the second year of the course).
