The predicted salary is between 20000 - 28000 £ per year.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide professional support to the Gardening Team, working closely with the Garden Centre Manager to help the business succeed.

Dual site role: Rota: Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 09:00-18:00 at Badshot Lea Garden Centre with Thursday and Friday 09:00-18:00 at Frensham Garden Centre.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for weeding, planting, pruning and watering as well as the general maintenance and appearance of the grounds, gardens and buildings.
  • Striving to create a pleasant environment that is safe and secure for both colleagues and visitors.
  • Day to day maintenance tasks, grass cutting, weed control and leaf raking.
  • To care for, manage and develop identified garden areas.
  • Planting new trees, flowers and various plants.
  • Clearing rubbish and litter away from the garden and grounds.
  • Giving advice and guidance to the centre manager on all matters relating to gardening.
  • Deciding on which seeds to plant and which locations.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for everyone working in the garden.
  • Making sure that all garden equipment is correctly maintained and serviced.
  • Undertaking the basic servicing and repair of all garden machinery.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for people:

  • Previous gardening or landscaping experience.
  • Previous experience in a garden centre or leisure environment would be advantageous.
  • Full clean driving license would be advantageous.

Rewards & Benefits:

  • Employee Discount – 50% in Restaurants and 20% in Garden Centre on joining, increasing to 25% after 2 years’ service and 30% after 5 years’ service.
  • Holiday (including bank holidays) – 5.6 weeks on joining increasing to 6.2 weeks after 2 years’ service and 6.6 weeks after 5 years’ service.
  • Bonus – We reward our employees with a non-contractual bonus at Christmas, based on the profit of the company in any financial year.

  • Attendance – After one year’s service, if you have worked for a full financial year and have 100% attendance, one day holiday (pro-rata) will be added to your holiday grant as a 'Thank you'.
