A globally recognised testing, inspection & certification company is seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a mechanical engineering background and specialist knowledge in welding and pressure equipment. This Project Engineer role offers the opportunity to contribute to a range of high-profile projects across the UK, including those related to nuclear new build, existing generation, defueling, decommissioning, and defence. The Project Engineer role is to be based in Bristol on a permanent staff basis with hybrid working available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support multiple nuclear-related projects across the UK
- Provide engineering input into conformity assessments, safety case verification, and inspection activities
- Define and implement standard inspection processes and procedures
- Develop and approve technical specifications and procedures
- Contribute to the production of Project Execution Plans and Quality Manuals
- Act as a central technical point of contact for project delivery, ensuring effective communication and coordination across teams
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and manufacturers
- Promote continuous improvement within engineering and quality practices
- Ensure all project work is carried out in accordance with relevant accreditations and regulatory requirements
Skills and Experience Required:
- Strong background in mechanical engineering, with extensive knowledge of manufacturing techniques and welding procedure development in regulated environments
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline is essential
- Proven expertise in at least one of the following areas: Inspection, Design Verification, Welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Nuclear Safety, Pressure Vessels / Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
- Demonstrable experience managing technical discussions and influencing key stakeholders
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with nuclear quality standards or other highly regulated industries
- Sound knowledge of ISO 9001 and its application in engineering projects
