Toolmakers and Tool & Die Maintenance Technicians are involved in the highly skilled, complex, and specialist work of manufacturing and maintaining engineering tooling used to produce components, products, and assemblies.
Wage: £15,704 for your first year, then it could increase depending on your age. This is the National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.
Most of your apprenticeship will be spent working. You’ll learn on the job by gaining hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work:
- Maintaining transfer press tooling
- Making new tooling
- Diagnosing faults, both dimensional and visual, on customer components
- Making necessary modifications
Where you’ll work:
Training: Apprenticeships include time away from work for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard. Training will take place at Burnley College.
