What you will be doing…
Business Analysts are the change enablers of SM&T – a team of curious thinkers, problem solvers and decision makers. You will be the bridge between our Business and IT teams who ensure that changes and innovations are delivered as efficiently as possible.
As part of our Business Analyst Graduate Scheme, you’ll join the very same team, learning the ‘ what’ and the ‘ why’ behind a range of business problems and how an analytical approach can be used to deal with them.
Over the course of the scheme, you’ll get up to speed with a range of analytical modelling techniques, learn how change can be a result of system enhancements, new trading products, economic, regulatory, or strategic change, and liaise with both IT and Business teams to make sure they fully understand and implement incoming business changes.
The kind of person we’re looking for…
Naturally curious, you’ll love delving deep into complex problems, approaching them with a logical and inquisitive mindset to best work out how to solve them. Your high level of organisation and attention to detail will be essential. A confident communicator, your strong written and spoken skills will need to speak to both business and IT teams in a concise, audience-specific way. You will have;
- A 2:1 degree – or the equivalent ideally in any subject
- Self-organised, proactive, and committed to regularly meeting deadlines
- The ability to multitask across a range of tasks and duties
- Comfortable with ambiguity whilst still understanding the objective of the change
- Relationship-building skills and the ability to work in a team
- An analytical mindset with a passion for problem-solving
What we will give you…
Our Business Analyst Graduate Scheme is a 2-year rotational programme. This will give you have a chance to experience new areas of business analysis every 6 months. Through such a broad approach, you can identify your strengths, so you know which areas you would like to pursue upon completion of the programme.
These teams are responsible for upkeep and change across a suite of IT systems and processes that support a part of the trading lifecycle such as pre-trade analysis, trade execution, and reconciliation. You will be able to understand the entire energy deal lifecycle as well as different stakeholders across the business.
As a graduate you will also be expected to complete the BCS Analysis Foundation course. This will provide you with a strong overview of analysis modelling techniques, and how change can be completed using different project methodologies.
