Here at Metroline Manchester we are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Network Planning Manager to join our dream team in a brand new role reporting into our Network Planning manager – Paul. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the planning and development of our bus services in Greater Manchester as we join the Bee Network. This role requires a blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for improving bus travel with previous experience within the industry.

Responsibilities

Network Planning and Development:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of network plans and strategies to improve service coverage, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of current routes and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the design, scheduling and rostering of modifications to existing services.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data from various sources to inform planning decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports on network performance, highlighting key trends and insights.
  • Ensure scheduling data is accurate and able to work with TfGM systems and processes.
  • Report and track all changes to hours and miles as a result of service changes

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including TfGM, local authorities and community groups, to ensure alignment with Bee Network goals.
  • Work closely with Unite representatives and depot management teams to improve rosters and schedules.
  • Participate in public consultations and feedback sessions to gather input and address concerns from passengers and the community.
  • Deputise for the Network Planning Manager at key stakeholder meetings.

Policy and Compliance:

  • Stay informed about relevant bus policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all network planning activities comply with local, regional, and national standards and regulations.

Essential criteria:

  • Must have previous experience in a similar role within the industry (Schedules Compiler, Roster Compiler) using scheduling software. (Hastus Scheduling – desirable)
  • Must have knowledge of the Driving Hours Regulations.
  • Comprehensive geographical knowledge of Greater Manchester
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a natural flair of providing support and going the extra mile.
