The successful candidate will oversee and manage work tasks for planned and reactive maintenance, collaborating with the Engineering Supervisor and Shift Leader. Responsibilities include liaising with engineering management and client personnel to ensure all maintenance work adheres to site policies, procedures, and health and safety legislative requirements. The candidate will operate as an Authorised Person, ensuring all necessary safety paperwork is completed to high standards and aligned with company policies and safe systems of work.
While on site, the Data Centre Engineer will report to the Engineering Shift Leader and support the shift teams to ensure all works are performed safely, to a high standard, and within site-specific time constraints. This is a continental shift role for an experienced HVAP.
Role Summary- Ensure routine maintenance is carried out on all building plant, equipment, and systems to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements.
- Respond to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs as necessary.
- Issue and enforce controls within the Permit to Work systems.
- Create and utilize required switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in line with company policies and SSOW.
- Maintain Evaporative Cooling Systems and domestic water systems to comply with L8 standards.
- Ensure availability of suitable spares for maintenance.
- Keep comprehensive maintenance records via REALM task sheets.
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all in-house tasks to ensure safe working practices.
- Supervise engineering subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual commitments and site operating processes.
- Develop strong working relationships with all staff and clients.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment, complying with all company and client site policies and procedures.
- Present a professional image to clients and visitors, promoting excellence in customer service.
- Maintain professional and technical skills through personal development and lifelong learning.
- Ensure work packs include required documentation, including subcontractor RAMS review.
- Responsible for training and personal development updates.
- Support incidents and unplanned faults on site.
- HVAP responsibilities applicable to the role.
- Manual Handling Training (advantageous)
- HV Authorisation
- Current Wiring Regulations certificate
- Level 3 NVQ in an associated discipline
- Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification
- Experience in real-time incident/fault management in a business-critical environment
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding and experience in health and safety obligations for maintenance activities
- Good verbal communication skills
- Numerate and literate
- Diligence in safe working practices
- Self-motivated with high personal integrity
- Ability to work well both in a team and independently.
- Organised, able to prioritise and deliver in high-pressure environments.
- Courteous and presentable for front and back of house roles, with client exposure at all levels
- Ability to ascend and descend vertical access equipment.
- Flexibility regarding working hours
- PASMA & IPAF (preferred)
- Knowledge of multiple interlinked systems (Fire, PMS, BMS)
- Takes ownership and accountability.
