The E&I Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance services to internal customers. Executing site preventative maintenance activities while communicating effectively with internal customers and outside service providers and suppliers. This position will also support capital construction and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and record periodic maintenance and repair on terminal electrical equipment and instrumentation in a computerized maintenance program.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all terminal equipment.
  • Assist the Operations and Drumming Departments as required.
  • Coordinate with other Maintenance Technicians and other Departments.
  • Participate in the terminal emergency response organization and wear an SCBA and other chemical PPE.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for required tasks, and safely perform job duties.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support on a routine call rotation and occasionally as job duties demand.
  • Drive a company vehicle.
  • Depending on the E&I Maintenance Technician position being filled, may operate heavy equipment.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Industrial E&I Trade School or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience in an industrial setting. This requirement can be waived by IMTT depending on educational background and/or other occupational experience.
  • General experience in maintenance, electrical and instrumentation in a chemical manufacturing or storage facility.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment as well as the outside environment where temperatures routinely reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary. Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting. Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights. Ability to wear and use a respirator. The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the applicant have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
