Abels are proud members of BAR (British Association of Removers) and our house moving teams specialise both in moving antiques and specialist items such as pianos, grandfather clocks, fine art alongside day to day household items and furniture, always delivering the utmost care and attention, ensuring everything runs smoothly and guaranteeing our customer’s peace of mind.

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers and Class 2 Drivers that are looking for a new challenge within removals, to join a prestigious and growing team based in Brandon, Suffolk. You will be responsible for driving, moving and handling customers household/ personal possessions.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Initially shadowing current Drivers and Senior Drivers to secure knowledge of the role, routes and build confidence
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with our Customers and Colleagues in the movement of goods across UK and Europe
  • Provide assistance in the moving and handling of customer goods, including driving to and from location (long and short distances) across the UK and Europe
  • Packing and wrapping customer goods before manually and physically lifting (aided and unaided) onto vehicles or into location
  • Completing the necessary on the job paperwork to a high standard
  • Following H&S Guidelines and carrying out Banks-person duties
  • Begin to learn the full role of a Removals Operative
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Full UK drivers’ licence (no more than 6 points) – Essential
  • Valid CPC qualification and licence – Essential
  • Valid Passport – Essential
  • Excellent customer service and organisational skills – Essential
  • Experience in Heavy Goods Vehicles driving – Desirable
  • Previous removals sector experience - Desirable
  • Multilingual – Desirable
  • Previous warehouse/ Forklift experience – Desirable
Remuneration & Benefits Package:
  • Competitive Salary depending on experience (per annum) and rising
  • Overtime available and paid at enhanced rates when required
  • Normal days of work: Monday to Friday. (Occasional weekends required)
  • Hours- 50 hours per week (weekdays). Can start from 5am and finish times vary depending on the job and can finish late on occasion.
  • Nights away (set allowance paid) = on average two nights per week, sleeping within the vehicle bunks and occasional B&Bs.
