  • Qualifications
  • Essential criteria: Relevant ONC/NHC or equivalent knowledge and experience or working towards that level. Be prepared to work towards registration as a Clinical Technician.
  • Desirable criteria: Registered as a Clinical Technician.
  • Experience
    • Essential criteria: Practical experience in engineering workshop practices and techniques, which includes practice in preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, calibration, quality control, safety and acceptance testing. Experienced in the use of precision test equipment with the skills to interpret and analyse results.
    • Desirable criteria: Experience in applying workshop technology to patient-critical equipment and techniques in healthcare. Specialist training on the maintenance and repair of a range of medical devices would be desirable. Good level of understanding of patient and staff risks arising from equipment use and failure.
  • Knowledge
    • Essential criteria: Knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering of electronic workshop practice and computer systems.
    • Desirable criteria: Knowledge of medical electronics, electro-mechanical systems, computing and medical device support. Knowledge of medical device operation and management.
  • Other
    • Essential criteria: Able to prioritise and manage own work. Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence. Capable of working without close supervision. Full UK driving Licence.
    • Desirable criteria: Maintain a flexible approach to changes in working practices and accept change readily.

    The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
