The role
Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer, the Head of Handepay Marketing will lead a small team in the creation and execution of the company's marketing & PR plans for SMEs across all channels, driving leads and revenue growth for the Handepay cards business.
The responsibilities
- Lead the strategy and execution of the company's marketing & PR plan for Handepay that positions the business as the leading brand in the sector to help SME businesses grow and drives leads and sales growth.
- Act as the 'go to' for the Managing Director, Card Services, developing the marketing strategy and executing marketing plans that support the strategic and operational plans for the business as well as driving sales via multiple channels.
- Own lead generation into Handepay sales teams, using data, customer profiling and AI tools to deliver growth in new customers across appropriate channels.
- Lead and execute social media and content marketing strategies for SMEs, including blog posts, articles, white papers, and infographics.
- Support development and management of the Handepay websites.
- Manage the performance of the team, coaching and developing them and building capabilities aligned to business strategy.
- Provide regular and consistent reporting of marketing activity and results in order to measure effectiveness and ensure that company activity is in line with envisaged strategic direction.
- Brand ownership, ensure brands are expressed in a consistent way internally across all touchpoints.
- Lead and execute PR strategy with day-to-day ownership of overall PR and communications for the SME audiences.
- Manage relationship with external agencies/suppliers.
- Strategically plan annual budget against business objectives.
- Work alongside relevant business partners and Finance team to ensure correct tracking and accountability across all marketing budgets. Manage the marketing team to deliver detail, planning and reconciliation across their budget areas.
About you
- Highly commercial and proven Marketing leader, already operating at Head of level, preferably within B2B.
- Must have demonstrable expertise in having taken strategic intent to executable plans and activities. Clear track record in taking a revenue generating opportunity from conception to profit is essential.
- Proven experience of customer lifecycle management and engagement strategies with a large SME base, experience of SalesForce CRM preferable. Additionally, experience of digital campaign management and channel strategies is key.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels including with independent retail store owners, senior level contacts in significant client organisations, external trade and industry bodies and employees.
- Driven, focused and ambitious for the business.
- A charismatic and energetic leader who engages, develops and motivates teams to deliver superior business outcomes.
- Strong execution focus, willing to get hands dirty and get stuck in to ensure successful delivery.
- Highly analytical with the ability to analyse and question data in order to provide critical insight.
- Background in convenience retail, retail technology or payments desirable, the ability to quickly appreciate the key dynamics and economics of a retail business is essential.
- To have operated in a role which fluctuates between hands on marketing activity and highly strategic, bigger picture input.

Job type Permanent, Monday to Friday. Our contracted working hours are 36.25 per week, Monday to Friday 9am-5.15pm. The role requires 3-4 days a week in the Haydock office, with flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week.
