Our client, a forward-thinking construction firm based in Irvine, is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to take the lead on daily finance and administrative operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and relaxed office where your contribution is genuinely recognised and valued.

You will be the key contact for all finance-related matters, working closely with procurement, surveyors, on-site staff, and senior management. There is clear potential for progression into management accounts and a more senior role with increased responsibilities.

Working Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00
  • Friday: 08:00 - 12:30

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for all finance queries
  • Manage the purchase ledger - process, record, and pay supplier invoices
  • Manage the sales ledger - issue and record customer invoices
  • Credit control - monitor overdue accounts, send reminders, and follow up on payments
  • Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Handle VAT returns and submissions
  • Record and reconcile company expenses and petty cash
  • Arrange and record payment of bills and staff expenses
  • Record and manage company pension contributions
  • Book staff accommodation and manage travel-related expenses
  • Use Sage 50 (essential) and Eque2 Construct (desirable)
  • Liaise with external accountants to ensure accurate financial records
  • Collaborate closely with Quantity Surveyors and the Procurement team
  • Support with general office admin, staff queries, and ordering supplies

  • Previous experience using Sage 50 (essential)
  • Bookkeeping experience, ideally within the construction sector or a related industry
  • Familiarity with Eque2 Construct or other construction-specific software (advantageous)
