We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Foreman to oversee the day-to-day operations of our general earthworks activities. As foreman, you will serve as the primary point of contact for managing people, equipment, and materials within a specific section of the project. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth execution of our earthworks projects, maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety: Ensure the health and safety of the workforce and environmental protection of the surrounding area. Conduct daily visits to teams under your control to ensure compliance with H&S policies and procedures.
  • Productivity: Work with team Supervisors to maximize efficiency and productivity. Provide direct supervision and demonstrate effective management techniques.
  • Planning & Execution: Collaborate with the Works Manager and Engineering team to develop and execute work plans. Ensure teams adhere to the planned activities and schedules.
  • Quality Control: Ensure construction methods are followed and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) are respected. Verify that no hold points are passed without the necessary approvals.
  • Materials Management: Oversee the daily ordering of materials needed for your section, including gas oil, water, AdBlue, imported stone, and geotextiles.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure the quality and completeness of Daily Allocation Sheets and enforce the use of digital records where applicable.
  • Plant Checks: Enforce and collect Daily Plant Checks, ensuring any defective equipment is reported and addressed promptly.
  • Feedback & Reporting: Provide key feedback on the performance of team members. While not directly responsible for HR processes, you will offer valuable insights into team dynamics and performance.
  • Compliance: Adhere to company procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures, Permit to Work Memos, and any client-imposed requirements.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable first-class approach to health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Experience managing multiple earthworks teams, with the ability to coordinate activities and ensure maximum production with minimal downtime.
  • Strong knowledge of machine/application matching, production outputs, and Series 600 Specification for Highway Works.
  • Proficiency in implementing GPS machine guidance.
  • Ability to read and work on a 3-week programme.
  • Sound understanding of quality requirements and adherence to ITPs and Hold Points.
  • Professional interaction with client representatives at various levels.
  • Ability to robustly defend the company's interests when required.
