We work flexibly and you’ll be empowered to work where you do your best work, balancing your individual needs with the need for us to engage as teams and deliver excellent client service. Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.
The role:
Our Commercial and Private Client Litigation team includes Regulatory lawyers who advise and represent businesses and individuals in connection with investigations or prosecutions being conducted by regulatory agencies with powers to impose sanctions. These include the Police, Health and Safety Executive, Trading Standards, Local Authorities and sport governing bodies such as the Football Association.
We are seeking a bright, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join us as a Paralegal. As a paralegal in this team you will enjoy access to a wide variety of dispute resolution work. The wider Litigation team, ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners Directories, acts for businesses, landed estates, farms and private clients in relation to agriculture, rural property, private client, commercial and regulatory matters.
It is an excellent place to begin or develop your legal career by gaining broad exposure to a wide variety of disputes. As a paralegal supporting the full team of 15 Lawyers and Partners, you will benefit from experiencing a range of working styles providing high quality legal advice and exceptional client service.
Your work will vary from day to day. You will help deal with legal research, evidence gathering, procedural work and routine case preparation and administration. You will liaise with clients, experts and other witnesses, court officials and opposing parties, assist with document drafting/preparation (including witness statements and court applications), note taking and costing. You will also assist with trial and hearing preparation and you will have opportunities to attend court hearings. In short, you will get involved in many aspects of litigation and file management processes and assist on related team activities. You will have the opportunity to attend events organised by sector organisations such as the Rugby Union Safety Association, the Football Safety Officers’ Association and ‘Law in Sport.’
Working with supervision to help you develop your skills, you will build your legal experience. We recruit trainee solicitors onto the CW SQE Pathway from our pool of paralegals and this litigation team includes one Senior Associate, three solicitors and a trainee who joined us as paralegals.
This role will allow you to work flexibly, with the majority of the week in our Taunton or Bristol office and the remainder in your home working environment, if you wish. You will also have the opportunity to travel between offices. It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
About you:
We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact so, as a minimum, you will have a good technical grounding in the law. You may have some paralegal experience (in any field) you’ll be keen to develop your legal career undertaking complex dispute resolution work.

You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to your fee earners, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work. We will not require you to have prior experience of working in any of our sectors.
