Do you have experience preparing students for Functional Skills or GCSE Maths resits in a post-16 setting? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Post-16 Maths Tutor to work with students in Newcastle who are striving to gain essential numeracy qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about maths education and committed to bridging learning gaps for learners aged 16+.
As a Maths Tutor for Post-16 students, you will deliver targeted interventions to small groups and individual students across a college or sixth form environment. Your sessions will focus primarily on Functional Skills and GCSE Maths resit preparation, with an emphasis on building learner confidence and improving outcomes in a supportive, structured setting.
Responsibilities:
- Support Individual Learning: Help implement personalised learning plans.
- Provide Targeted Support: Offer 1:1 and small group assistance tailored to student needs.
- Monitor Progress: Track student development and adjust support as required.
- Collaborate with Staff and Families: Work closely with teachers, support teams, and parents/carers.
- Create a Positive Environment: Help build a space where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged.
- Engage Learners: Use a variety of strategies to maintain student interest and adapt to different learning styles.
- Keep Accurate Records: Maintain documentation of student progress and share insights with staff.
Requirements:
- Recognised teaching/tutoring qualification (CertEd, or equivalent preferred).
- Previous experience delivering Maths to learners aged 16 and above.
- Strong understanding of Functional Skills Maths and/or GCSE Maths curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisation skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education).
