A highly regarded independent mainstream school in South East London is seeking a caring, organised and professional School Nurse to join their pastoral team on a full-time, permanent basis from September. We're looking for a qualified nurse to join a Senior School team in a term-time role (35 + 3 weeks) which offers challenge, autonomy, CPD, supervision & revalidation support and where you can make real impact. The role requires working in collaboration with the Senior Nurse (Senior School), the Deputy Head Pastoral, school staff, students and parents, the postholder will continue to uphold an environment that promotes physical and mental health; as well as responding to individual social and emotional needs of students within the Senior School.
A highly competitive salary is available (equivalent to NHS band 6 FTE), together with a clear programme of staff development.
Key Responsibilities:- Administering first aid, managing minor injuries and illnesses, and providing basic healthcare services within the school setting.
- Supporting students' mental health, identifying those at risk, and providing referrals to appropriate resources.
- Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns, and working with other professionals to ensure children's safety.
- Conducting health assessments, screenings.
- Working effectively with parents, teachers, and other school staff, as well as external agencies, to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Maintaining accurate records of student health information, assessments, and interventions.
- Managing medications, ensuring safe storage and administration, and educating students and families about medication regimens.
- Implementing and adhering to infection control protocols to ensure a safe school environment.
- Registered Nurse (RGN/RN Child) with current NMC registration.
- Experience in a paediatric, school or community setting preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a calm, approachable manner.
- Confident working independently and as part of a wider support team.
- Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, first aid procedures, and relevant legislation.
