Youth Auditions: A Christmas Carol

People’s Light will hold auditions on June 11 and 12 for two youth roles in the upcoming 2025-2026 season production of A Christmas Carol. Callbacks are on June 14. The theatre is also offering free audition orientation workshops prior to auditions; Read on for more information.

A Christmas Carol Youth Roles

Tiny Tim(additional ensemble roles As Cast):Actor should be 8-12 years old, any ethnicity. TINY TIM is kind, sweet, playful, and sees the best in everyone. Character uses he/him pronouns. Role will be double cast with another young actor.

Little Fan(additional ensemble roles As Cast): Actor should be 8-12 years old, any ethnicity. LITTLE FANis strong-willed, luminous, and speaks her mind. Characteruses she/her pronouns. Role will be double cast with another young actor.

Optional Audition 101 Orientation Workshops:

All TINY TIM and LITTLE FAN actors are required to prepare and present a one-minute memorized monologue, and sing “Tiny Tim’s Folk Song.”

• Audition sheet music – coming May 23
• Demo recording of the song, sung by the Music Director – coming May 23
• Piano track only, to accompany audition – coming May 23

The monologue can be a piece (or excerpt) of actor\’s own choice; actors are welcome to use one of the text options available HERE . Actors should prepare their monologues in their own natural speaking voices. Actors who are invited to callbacks may also be invited to experiment with a British accent.

All actors should please bring a clear, current photo of themselves; professional headshots are welcome but not required. We encourage performers with previous theatre, vocal, and/or dance experience to bring a resume, but this is also not required.

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your audition block to complete some simple paperwork.

Optional: Audition 101 Orientation Workshops

Never had a professional audition before? Think it might be easier to avoid nerves with a preview of what to expect? These free sessions are meant to orient young actors to what will be required on their audition day: introducing the steps in the process, what directors and theatre staff are looking for when they meet a new actor, and how to prepare in advance.

Please note that these are not acting/singing classes, and actors will not be coached on their individual monologues or songs. The orientation will ensure they know a friendly face at the theatre, have practiced introducing themselves, and have answers to the most common questions. On audition day, actors can focus on the joy of showing their best work!

Before or during the hour-long workshop, People’s Light staff will also be available to answer individual questions (see times below).

Workshops are FREE! Advance RSVPs are greatly appreciated to help us prepare for these events.
