We are currently seeking a GIS Specialist to join our operations in a permanent, full-time position.

The GIS Specialist is responsible for setting up project-specific databases in PostgreSQL and project files in QGIS. They continually seek process improvements through automation, communicate with other departments to enhance efficiency and reduce errors, and provide tools mainly for design and permit teams to deliver higher quality results faster. Additionally, they find ways to migrate data efficiently between software such as QGIS, Katapult, and AutoCAD.

• Manage GIS and Database Management team;
• Innovate and implement automation scripts to boost productivity, save time, and reduce errors;
• Collaborate with the Software Development Manager to communicate team needs based on telecommunication principles;
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Team Leaders on database extracts and capabilities to streamline workflows;
• Extract data for reports and ensure data quality through manual and automated processes;
• Ensure all tasks meet project timelines;
• Handle last-minute deliverables such as data updates, queries, and plan generation, including team training;
• Oversee creation and updates of project files for efficient GIS work;
• Manage print templates in QGIS for drawings and plans.

• Pass a criminal record check;
• Authorized to work without visa sponsorship;
• Valid Driver's License (Class 5) with a good driving record.

• BSc in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (preferred);
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensure (asset);
• Telecommunications or competency demonstration (preferred);
• Project Management experience;
• PMP (asset);
• At least 3 years of QGIS or GIS and SQL experience;
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams (preferred);
• Proficiency with Office 365 and Microsoft Projects.
