The role

The Editorial Production Assistant is responsible for processing content supplied by internal and external authors. Working closely with the content teams and the Head of Production, the Editorial Production Assistant will edit content for magazines, reports and websites, source and process images for both print and digital, and assist with page layout using InDesign and Turtl. For the right candidate, there would be the opportunity to work as a multi-media Editorial Production Assistant across print, digital and audio-visual.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Check content for spelling, grammar and editorial errors, adhering to the company's house style.
  • Source images for web and print as required, and crop and retouch to suit each publication or website.
  • Assist with page layout on monthly magazines – The Drawdown and Real Deals.
  • Assist with page layout on various sector reports and special reports as required.
  • Review progress against schedules and prioritise work accordingly, liaising with colleagues as necessary.
  • Work closely with the Head of Production regarding supplied content, to ensure that the editorial approach remains consistent.
  • Collaborate with the company’s stakeholders on layout concepts required for various editorial projects.
  • Assist the Head of Production with product workflow and final delivery, and provide holiday and sickness cover as required.
  • Edit and publish audio and video content for our Private Equity Talks and Top of The Ops podcasts, as well as ad hoc multimedia deliverables as they occur (for candidates with the necessary skillset).

Skills, attributes and experience

  • Technical ability (working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is essential but further training will be provided as needed).
  • Experience of website CMS such as Wordpress, Joomla or ExpressionEngine.
  • Strong sub-editing skills with an eye for good grammar and spelling.
  • Talent for explaining complex issues clearly.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and adapt to changing demands.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superb teamwork and communication skills.
  • Interest in editorial work and publishing.
  • Interest in financial and/or business journalism and design.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere or similar video and audio editing software would be an advantage.
