Senior Care Assistant

Overview

As a Senior Care Assistant, we ask for you to care for our residents like they are your own family, caring for their physical, psychological and social needs. You would assist residents with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing and meals. You would also be responsible for the medication round and for leading the shift. We welcome applications from candidates who have previously worked as a Senior Care Assistant, Care Giver, Homecare Worker or Community Support Worker, and we provide full training. Applications are welcome from those who do not have senior experience but have a passion for care with a valid qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift and provide medication administration as required.
• Care for residents’ physical, psychological and social needs and assist with personal care activities (washing, hygiene, dressing) and meals.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing development and training.
• Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are understood and applied to protect adults in care.
• Provide evidence of completed training and comply with fire procedures and health and safety legislation.
• Complete all training as determined by the home.

Qualifications

• Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or care certificate. Training provided; these are desirable, not essential.
• Previous experience in a Care Home environment is desirable but not essential.
• Experience of leading a team.
• A committed and organized approach.
• A confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible to work shifts.

Other Duties

• Attend staff meetings.
• Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing needs of the home and participate in appropriate training; encourage and support staff development.
• Understand safeguarding responsibilities and reduce risk of abuse or neglect; adhere to safeguarding and whistleblowing policies at all times.
• Provide evidence of any untaken training.
• Comply with fire procedures and health and safety legislation; work in a safe environment.
• Complete all training as determined by the home.
