The Group Fitness Manager (GFM) is responsible for the successful operation of the Group Fitness Department. The GFM is held accountable for hiring, training, managing, and overseeing the group fitness staff to ensure members receive the highest level of group fitness training possible. Additionally, the GFM will perform duties related to Social Media and Website management.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure class attendance goals are achieved on a monthly basis.
- Ensure Instructor staff performs all aspects of their functions and duties effectively.
- Manage and motivate the Instructor staff, including hiring, firing, performance management, and recognition.
- Serve as the lead customer service contact for members in the group fitness area, including answering questions, welcoming, conducting group fitness orientations, and other member communications.
- Act as a liaison between the group fitness area and other departments, communicating relevant information to the Instructor staff as needed.
- Establish, monitor, and analyze the group fitness budget, ensuring expenses stay within budget.
- Develop and implement group fitness policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage youth programs.
- Coordinate quarterly launches for Les Mills formats.
- Coordinate orientations for new members.
- Order supplies needed for the department.
- Review daily class attendance statistics against monthly goals.
- Meet with Instructors annually and Program Leads quarterly to review revenue, goals, and performance.
- Focus on revenue growth and customer service improvement through training and accountability.
- Oversee promotional events to increase revenue.
- Develop and maintain staff training manuals.
- Ensure sanitation and tidiness of all fitness studios through proper staff training and cleaning protocols.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards responsibilities, colleagues, and members.
- Promote GGX using human and electronic resources.
- Create, manage, and grow the business presence on social media channels such as blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.
- Implement strategies for capturing customer online reviews, monitor online ratings, and respond appropriately.
- Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
- Identify threats and opportunities in user-generated content, report to management, and monitor the business reputation online.
Qualifications:
- CPR/AED certification is required.
- Experience in developing group fitness freestyle classes is required.
- Must have AFAA or ACE Group Fitness Certification or be willing to obtain it.
- College degree is preferred.
