Main Scope & Function of Job: To maintain aviation security standards ensuring the safe and smooth transition of passengers, staff, and airport users in accordance with Department for Transport Directives, and to provide general security for all Airport property.

Weekly Hours Available: 18 hours per week

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screen all passengers and staff passing through the Archway Metal Detectors, manual body searching where necessary, supported by explosive trace detection and hand-held metal detectors.
  • Screen items via x-ray, explosive trace equipment, and manual search to ensure no prohibited articles are taken airside.
  • Control access into airside, checking identification or travel documents for all passengers, staff, and airport users requiring access.
  • Search vehicles requiring entry airside.
  • Read and adhere to security notices, and complete documentation clearly and concisely on incidents.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations such as aircraft emergencies, terminal evacuations, and security incidents.
  • Carry out patrols (vehicle and on foot) to ensure locations are secure.
  • Attend to and investigate reports of unattended baggage.
  • Escort visitors and contractors working airside.
  • Meet performance targets and goals both individually and as a team.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Must pass a basic medical examination to confirm absence of colour blindness.
  • No unspent criminal convictions.
  • Smart appearance and good bearing.
  • Work history of at least 5 years to meet Department for Transport Regulations.
  • Experience in Aviation and/or Security Industry.
  • Valid, clean full UK driving licence.

Additional Information:

  • Full training will be provided in-house.
  • Part-time shifts: either early or late shifts, followed by 6 rest days, averaging 18 hours per week.
  • Expected training start date: 4th March, pending screening completion.
