Role Overview
As an Operational Technician you will be responsible for a wide range of activities within the Zirconium manufacturing plant supporting the effective running of the shift. Duties will include the production of both plant intermediates and finished packaged materials. In this position you will need to be flexible, versatile, and capable of covering different job roles. This role is for a candidate who has previous manufacturing experience with a strong focus on health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a varied range of equipment and processes including powder and liquid handling, dissolution, drying, calcination, and milling technologies.
- Measure, mix, and add chemicals including strong acids and bases (liquids and powders) into the production process.
- Monitor and record process variables; adjust process parameters to maintain control over equipment performance.
- Conduct in-process analysis, including pH testing, particle size, Loss on Drying (LOD).
- Packing of finished goods into drums, bags, onto pallets or other forms of containers for transportation.
- Confirm work schedules onto SAP system.
- Communicate effectively with the operations team. Take and deliver effective plant handovers.
- Ensure safe production practices and maintain high standards of cleanliness in your work areas.
- Manage your workload efficiently to meet production deadlines.
Essential Requirements:
- At least 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or equivalent, including Maths, English, and Science.
- Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject, preferably plant processing skills, including knowledge of physical sciences and chemical hazards.
- Proven experience of working within a chemical manufacturing environment handling liquids and powders.
Desirable (But Not Essential):
- FLT (Forklift Truck) license (training will be provided if necessary).
- Pendent Crane training.
- IOSHH working Safely.
- LEAN training (e.g. Green belt).
Working Hours:
Initially, you will work on Days, 37 hours a week. Potential to transition to a 2-shift rota (6 am – 2 pm, 2 pm – 10 pm).
