The Buyer job itself entails supporting the senior buyer on an impactful construction project, with a specific focus on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) procurement. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all materials and services are sourced optimally, contributing to the project's success while honing your skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Assist the procurement manager/senior buyers to successfully achieve company goals
  • Act as procurement lead on specified contracts and tenders
  • Develop procurement strategies for tenders and projects under guidance of the senior buyer or procurement manager
  • Ensure performance feedback is obtained on suppliers used both at tender and project stage, and that internal supply chain systems are regularly updated.
  • Produce, maintain and manage procurement schedules and communicate throughout to the project team to ensure key deliverables are met.
  • Utilise technical knowledge of M & E systems and materials to inform procurement decisions.
  • Utilise commercial knowledge to make informed procurement decisions
  • Utilise all procurement techniques and approaches
  • Understand the estimating process and its interface with procurement

NB This role is required for a fixed term period up to February 2027, in line with the duration of the project, however has the potential to go permanent depending on further work winning activities in the region. We can offer some hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days on site, and we can also consider candidates interested in working away from home.

You will have proven experience in a procurement role, particularly within the construction sector. Your background should ideally include M&E/MEP procurement, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively will set you apart. Demonstrable experience of working in an operational procurement role, within an MEP/building services construction environment. Good IT skills. Use of procurement skills and techniques. Knowledge of local market conditions and the willingness to engage in travel and on-site work will also enhance your suitability for this role.
