Competitive Salary + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits Summary Freedom Electrical Design Services are currently recruiting a Substation Design Engineer to join our team. The Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering design of EHV, HV and LV electrical substation projects both in the UK and internationally, meeting safety, quality, and environmental requirements. The role will require travel to other Freedom offices and client site locations across the UK with overnight stays where necessary. Some of the key deliverables in this role will include: Deliver substation primary plant and cable design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness and profitability. Seek out innovative solutions to technical problems. Advice and design work for primary plant including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear cables and all substation equipment and substation design up to 11kV up to 400kV. Have sound analytical and numeracy skills including short-circuit forces calculation, cable rating calculations, short-circuit current calculations and lightning protection calculations. Have a solid understanding of the interface requirements of the civil/structural and OHL aspects of HV substations. Ideally qualifications and experience in: HND (or equivalent) in Engineering or Degree (Desirable). Knowledge of CAD. Knowledge of Substation Design. Full UK Driving license.
