Aptus Utilities is a leading provider of multi-utility services across the UK. We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Stores Operative (Storesman) to join our busy logistics team at the Leyland Stores Depot. This role is vital to the smooth operation of our supply chain, supporting our project teams by ensuring materials are accurately received, stored, and distributed.

What you will be doing:

  • Goods Inwards: Unload and check deliveries against paperwork, report and document any discrepancies or damaged goods, ensure items are correctly booked in and stored appropriately.
  • Stock Control: Organise and manage materials in designated areas, maintain accurate stock levels and assist with regular stocktakes, operate inventory systems and liaise with the procurement team as needed.
  • Order Picking & Dispatch: Pick and prepare items for delivery to site teams, ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment, safely load vehicles and assist drivers where required.
  • Warehouse Standards & Safety: Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times, adhere to all company Health & Safety policies, carry out visual checks of equipment and report faults or hazards promptly.
  • Equipment Use: Operate pallet trucks, forklifts, and other materials handling equipment (training provided if needed), perform basic maintenance checks on machinery and tools.
  • Team Collaboration: Support colleagues across the stores and logistics functions, assist with general duties as required to ensure smooth depot operations.

What we ask from you:

  • Physically fit and capable of manual lifting and handling.
  • IT literate – confident using stock systems, handheld devices, and email.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good time management and the ability to work independently.
  • Confident communicator and team player.
  • Understanding of warehouse safety and procedures.
  • Forklift licence (advantageous but training can be provided).
  • Valid licence.
  • Familiarity with stock replenishment practices.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional driving duties (delivering or collecting stock/materials).
