Job Purpose
The role of Slitting Operator requires you to become involved in the effective running of slitting machines in your designated Team whilst working, at all times, to the highest levels of safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- To operate machines and jointly assist in the activity of Slitting as required;
- Undertake job and specification changes, with assistance from a Team Leader as required, by correct use of tension control, knives, etc. as appropriate;
- Monitor sensors and systems for efficient use of product i.e. efficient run downs at the end of jobs and re‑start of next job, making adjustments as required;
- Undertake a full range of quality checks and record the information to the standards required by the company;
- Load and unload coils promptly when required, packing coils to pallet and wrapping accurately to Customer specification;
- Accurately check and record information required by the company. This includes accurate completion of quality records and production paperwork on outputs, waste and downtime;
- Assist in job changes ensuring the machines are set up at standard operating conditions;
- Take an active role in developing and implementing world‑class manufacturing principles;
- Identify and take part in remedial actions for process or quality faults on the machines and advise line management of any non‑conformances that you observe.
- Assist in the delivery of agreed Company training plans.
- Attend regular operational review meetings to develop the process operation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment advantageous.
- Previous experience of undertaking quality tests desirable.
- Proven ability to learn new processes and procedures.
- Understanding of basic health and safety principles.
- Ability to perform safely under pressure and excel at time management.
- Excel verbal/written communication and documentation.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and flexibility.
