We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team: At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it. We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.
Overview: We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Sales Development Representative. This entry-level role is perfect for anyone looking to start a career in business development or build on existing sales experience. As a Sales Development Representative, you will drive and support the growth of Centrica's commercial training solutions business by promoting electrical, gas, and Net Zero training courses to the UK market. Your focus will be on increasing course attendance through proactive outreach and prospecting methods, including calls, emails, and LinkedIn messages to promote public course offerings.
Location: Hybrid working arrangement at any of our training academies listed above. You will need to be in the office 3 days per week.
About The Role: As a Sales Development Representative, your role will involve actively identifying and nurturing potential leads for corporate clients ensuring a steady pipeline of opportunities for the business. You will continuously monitor and analyse the UK market to identify new opportunities and trends in electrical, gas, and Net Zero training. You will actively promote and sell our public courses and wider portfolio where opportunities present themselves. Maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders is crucial, as you will provide updates, feedback, and insights to support business growth. Gathering feedback from clients and course attendees will help improve the quality and relevance of the training courses offered. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with the Business Development Manager and Commercial Manager to develop and implement effective sales strategies. Additionally, you will provide regular reports on sales performance, lead generation, and market analysis to the management team. Staying updated with the latest developments in the electrical, gas, and Net Zero training sectors is essential to ensure relevancy in your sales pitches and conversations.
What We’re Looking For: Experience in sales or business development is desirable but not essential, with preference given to those in the training or education sectors. This role could also suit a graduate or someone from our call centre environment. Ability to analyse market trends and identify opportunities. Experience in using CRM tools and sales software is desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Resilience, drive, and a passion to succeed.
Why should you apply? We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.
If you’re full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.
