About the division The Water Consultancy Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to water and wastewater challenges, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. Overview of role We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Dams and Reservoirs team based in Cambridge. Our Cambridge team is one of our largest groups of dam engineers in Mott MacDonald and home to some of the most highly regarded authorities in the field internationally. In your day-to-day, your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for dams and their appurtenant structures (spillways, drawdown facilities, intakes and outfalls etc) Undertaking hydraulic and structural analyses for dams, weirs and barrages Contributing to flood studies and emergency plans Attending site inspections, investigations, and monitoring Actively participating in project, client and team meetings Preparing drawings, reports, and specifications Gaining exposure to project, commercial, and client management Actively participating in our Early Careers Professionals Network Candidate Specification We are looking for committed and motivated graduates with a genuine passion and a desire to make a difference in the world. To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience (excluding placements) and have a degree (obtained no earlier than 2023 ) in one of the following degree disciplines: Environmental engineering Water resources or hydraulic engineering In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience. We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics: • Methodical approach to problem solving. • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently. • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members. • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
