General Requirements and Attributes for Role:
- CEng MICE or MIStructE.
- Proven technical ability and high standard of design ability and rigour.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management: Management of projects and staff assigned to project. Assist Section Leader in the management and supervision of the team.
- Leadership: Guide, mentor and motivate non-chartered technical staff, set an example of behaviour. Promote the vision and ethos of the firm.
- Resourcing: Assist Section Leader and Associates to coordinate office resources on a weekly basis and to enable the Associates to prepare a report on resources for the Board on a monthly basis.
- Design: Initiating ideas, feasibility analysis, technical supervision, safety of finished structure, converting an architect's visions into functional reality.
- Training: Assist in the training, mentoring and professional development of non-chartered technical staff. Assist technical staff to develop ways of working efficiently.
- Health & Safety: Ensure staff under the responsibility are aware of risks associated with visits to construction sites, unoccupied buildings etc. Ensuring staff have appropriate PPE and other equipment for such visits. Project risk assessments and residual risk identification, defining and maintaining quality safety standards.
- Business Development: Procure new work and help develop new areas of business through marketing, networking and establishing contacts.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop new contacts and business opportunities.
- Assist the Section Leader in preparing a weekly workload report and if required, attend weekly workload meetings.
- Maintain resourcing information in Workspace.
- Carry out structural design work, inspections and reports when required.
- Monitor financial performance/profitability of projects.
- Discuss Project Owner report with Section Leader each month.
- Maintain continuing professional development and keep abreast of technical developments and legislation.
- Assist in marketing the Practice.
- Help the company to be profitable and raise profile with external clients through key relationships.
- Be involved in and contribute to tactical decisions affecting projects in the Practice.
- Report to Section Leader on all technical and welfare issues as necessary and on Project Owner reports.
- Work individually and as a project team member efficiently, professionally and in a helpful manner.
- Assist in the training and development of non-chartered technical staff.
- Show leadership and motivate staff to continually improve their technical ability, work ethic and efficiency.
Project Owner/Manager:
- Carry out or discuss conceptual/feasibility design of projects.
- Plan, supervise and manage projects and project engineers to ensure a quality service to clients.
- Ensure that Health & Safety aspects of designs are properly considered for compliance with CDM Regulations.
- Monitor financial performance/profitability of projects.
- Carry out structural design work, inspections and reports when required.
- Maintain continuing professional development and keep abreast of technical developments and legislation.
- SER Approved Certifier (where applicable).
- Maintain CPD.
- Carry out certification duties in accordance with the requirements of SER.
