Description of Position
The Purchasing Manager and their work are a pivotal part of the production process. Responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services for the company to meet the required price and lead-times whilst overseeing daily supply chain management and procurement activities, on a worldwide scale.
Strong negotiating, networking, maths and Microsoft Excel skills are essential whilst sustainability, risk management and ethical issues are advantageous. The Purchasing and supply chain process is essential to the overall success of the Alco Valves Group as a vast majority of the Company’s revenue is spent on procurement of raw materials, components and additional testing requirements hence, a real difference in cost saving and profit is made within the team.
Essential Skills Required
Skill set
Experience of the valve industry and raw materials are advantageous.
3 years management experience.
Degree / CIPS qualified or equivalent in a business related subject.
Minimum 10 years previous experience in a Purchasing role
Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base.
Able to bring modern procurement processes & mindset.
High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum)
Full Driving License required.
Experience of working with MRP systems is essential.
