The Environmental Service Aide-Housekeeping is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing room and furnishings in assigned work area, following established policies and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital.
ResponsibilitiesA day in the life of an Environmental Service Aide-Housekeeping at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Clean and disinfect patient’s rooms, bathrooms, furniture and other areas of the facility in a timely manner.
- Deliver linen and remove trash from assigned areas.
- Sweep and mop patient’s rooms.
- Maintain adequate stock of materials, supplies and chemicals on cleaning cart and in janitors closet.
- Consistently perform daily floor care procedure.
- Ensure equipment is kept clean and polished - carts, tanks and buckets are emptied and rinsed at shift end.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned which are according to hospital policies & procedures.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs
- Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred:
- Previous Environmental Service or Housekeeping experience
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

CompensationStarting at $17.25 Hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
