The role As a Trainee Financial Accountant, you will support the financial reporting team in preparing accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role provides hands-on experience with financial processes, reporting systems, regulatory and tax requirements — making it an excellent opportunity to develop a solid foundation in financial accounting and reporting. Key responsibilities include: Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements for all operating companies. Support the preparation of monthly financial statements for all operating companies, including analysis of programme contribution and overheads. Post month end accruals and prepayments. Assist UK & US Accounting Managers with other month end tasks. Assist with monthly P&L analytical reviews. Analyze and comment on variances to budget. Maintain Fixed Asset Registers. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and work with the UK and US Accounting Managers to identify opportunities and risks. Assist with the preparation of the monthly analysis and accrual of indirect costs and liaise with FP&A and Commercial teams. Work with the AP team to ensure transactions are posted accurately and timely. Assist on UK and US tax matters (including US Federal and State reporting). Assist with queries from external auditors and tax advisors. Complete statistical reporting for operating entities. Work on ad hoc projects to deliver system and process efficiencies and enhancements. Any other ad-hoc duties as required. What we are looking for: Bachelor\’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a numerate and analytical field. AAT qualified applicants looking to progress their careers will be considered. Some previous experience in a finance functional role would be advantageous. Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build good relationships across departments. Comfortable with presenting findings to stakeholders at various levels of the organisation. Self-starter, proactively seeks out new opportunities to improve our business and ways of working and is comfortable with change. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good understanding of Office 365 including MS Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
