Main Purpose of the role:
- Providing SHE advice to Business Unit (BU);
- Monitoring and reporting BU SHE performance;
- Monitoring BU SHE trends to ensure standards are upheld;
- Encourage and track BUU incident and near miss reporting via the company UNOR system;
- Liaison with SHE Managers, Corporate SHE team, BU employees/contractors and other stakeholders;
- To act as a competent person for the BUU in matters relating to SHE;
- Travel to sites across the UK where BU staff and contractors are located;
- Occasional visit to NUVIA office locations (Oxfordshire and Cheshire).
Position in the Organisation:
- Providing authoritative advice to all levels of staff;
- Reporting SHE performance to the BU board/senior leadership team;
- Key relationships are with BU board members, Project Managers, Site Managers, Site Supervisors, Client SHE personnel, Regulators, Bid Managers, Radiation Protection Advisors and Supervisors;
- Supported by SHE administration assistant;
- Formal and informal interactions with Trade Union Representatives.
Scope of Job:
- Provision of safety and environmental advice;
- Development and delivery of safety and environmental training programmes;
- Awareness of current safety and environmental developments including any changes in legislation;
- Managing arrangements for consultation with BU employees on SHE matters;
- Development and roll out of company safety and environment initiatives;
- Carry out safety inspections and audits;
- Carrying out accident and incident investigation;
- Tracking actions arising from incident investigations;
- Provide safety and environmental information for bids;
- Develop and deliver training in the areas of safety management, safe systems of work, risk assessment, carrying and lifting, control of contractors, Learning From Experience etc.;
- Travel to other sites (c.25.nr) at which NUVIA have a presence, to attend meetings carry out inspections, surveys, audits and investigations (3/5 days per week);
- Support Award nomination entries such as RoSPA;
- Support external audits carried out by accreditation bodies or Clients.
Qualifications:
- Engineering/Science qualification (HNC, HND, Degree);
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (desirable);
- Member of IOSH (desirable).
Experience:
- Experience within health & safety position previously;
- Demonstrable experience in construction/site-based projects.
