Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct detailed flood risk assessments, ensuring compliance with local and national policies.
  • Develop comprehensive drainage strategy reports for a diverse range of projects.
  • Provide expert advice on the management of surface water and the mitigation of flood risk within development proposals.
  • Contribute to the design process from inception to completion, ensuring that all drainage-related matters are integrated into the project design in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with a variety of stakeholders including clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and members of the public to communicate project intentions and secure necessary consents.
  • Conduct public consultations and exhibitions to garner support and address concerns related to drainage aspects of projects.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • Chartered Engineer status with a recognized professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in drainage engineering with a consultancy or relevant industry.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient knowledge of flood risk assessments, detailed drainage design, and water management.
  • Familiar with relevant legislation, technical guidance, and best practices within the industry.
  • Experience in leading a team and managing complex projects with a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Capable of delivering presentations, writing reports, and navigating the planning process.
  • Competence in using industry-standard software for drainage design and hydraulic modeling.
